Washing and caring for your fly lines

It is that time of year again, equipment maintenance time in anticipation of the coming season. Washing and cleaning your fly line with a fly line dressing isn’t rocket science but thought I would share few links as a call to action. I personally have used a Snowbee Fly Line Cleaner and Leader Straightener along with George Gehrke’s Pz Line Cleaner for a number of years and it works well. Not that they have been packed away for long but it is also a good time to remove the memory from parts of the line that don’t get off the reel much.  Not that I am a huge advocate of needing to cast far or further to catch fish but a clean line does slide through the eyes of the rod more smoothly and does result in a smoother cast and no doubt a little extra distance. Yeah, I know it isn’t actual fishing but it does fill you with a sense of anticipation and remind you that the season is almost upon us.

Tight lines
