I bought the kindle version of Vintage Fishing Rod Restoration by Paul Duffield as I plan to restore an old split cane fly rod that I was given by my father. The book is a step by step illustrated guide that shows you how to restore a vintage fishing rod, with particular attention paid to cane fly rods. It isn’t a long book and was easily consumed in a little more than an hour but is very well laid out and provides enough detail that I feel confident enough to try and restore the rod. There is plenty of guidance on whether a task is required, e.g. cleaning, restoring or replacing ferrules along with materials to use that will deliver high quality results and those to be avoided.
